On Saturday, January 6th, Jimmie Lewis' cousin, Lee Caroline Brown, contacted me to let me know that Jimmie Lewis passed away. You may view Jimmie's 'Celebration of Life' video by clicking on the button below:
Our classmates will be greatly saddened by Roger's passing – he was quite a sports legend in our class by the time we graduated. His love and participation in sports continued beyond graduation, so much so that he couldn’t even attend reunions because of his involvement as a coach — he kept saying, “I’ll make the next one, but he never did manage to get away from the field — he just LOVED the game. An athlete, a fan, and a great guy.
Paul will always be remembered as someone who was immensely likable and capable of strong, lasting friendships. That was true in our years at OHS, but also throughout his life. Although Paul was officially a member of the class of 1966, many in our Class of 1965 will remember sharing classes with Paul and interacting with him at the various athletic and social events after school. Paul related so fully to the Class of 1965, that back in 2009 when we were planning our ‘Surprise’ 44th Reunion, Mike Sellazzo asked me to add Paul to our mailing list to keep him informed of our news and reunions. We honored Paul’s interest in our class by extending to him a privilege that we extended to no one else outside of the rarified grade-level circle of the OHS Class of 1965: invitations to our Reunions. Paul was 100’% one of us’.
Fellow classmate Carol Moshier Desiderio posted the following message on our OHS Class of 1965 Facebook Site: With a brokenheart, I would like to let you know we lost another classmate. Nancy Worden passed away on Thursday after a short illness. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 7th from 3pm to 7:00 at Corsone Funeral Home, 38 Main St., Highland, NY. My prayers of comfort go out to Nancy's daughter, Donna and family.
The Reunion Committee regrets to inform you, the event being held Saturday, Oct 1st has been canceled due to lack of attendance. The good news is: Friday, Sept. 30th event WILL BE HELD at the Paradise Restaurant in Verplank starting at 1:00pm. But instead of a pizza party, a full-course sit-down luncheon will be served. There is plenty of room still available so if you can join us, please let me know. Come hungry! 😋
We are still looking for classmate pics of younger years so email Carol a photo, even if you are not attending.
Thank you to all that responded! The 2022 Reunion Committee Carol Moshier Desiderio, Chair James Covert - Cliff Obenauer - Arthur Sullivan "We are so very sad to share that our beloved sister Barbara passed away suddenly the evening of July 16th. She was smart and funny and loved her family. She is survived by her brother Rick and his wife Cathy; her sister Peggy and her husband Ron Jude; her stepson Rob McEwen, along with three nieces, Ashley, Colby and Becca; three nephews Brian, Ron and Brad; and their extended families, along with her many close friends.
Barb was a great lover of books. Anyone wishing to honor her memory is asked to donate to a literacy or book oriented charity such as Bess the Book Bus in Tampa or First Book or Room to Read. We would appreciate you sharing here how you knew Barb and a favorite memory. A memorial service will be planned in the coming weeks."
